Residing at 100 Miller Rd., Mahwah, NJ, Co No. 1 has proudly served the residents of Mahwah NJ with professionalism, dedication and above all, a domineering volunteer spirit since 1914.

Today, Co No. 1, has 6 pieces of emergency apparatus and the members of Company No. 1 specialize in the area of technical rescue which includes calls such as building and trench collapse, elevator rescues,  motor vehicle accidents, and confined space emergencies. Co No. 1 allows provides water rescue capabilities in the form of our Swift Water and Dive Rescue teams. Co No. 1’s Dive Rescue team is a leading dive team in northern NJ and is a member of the NJ Regional SCUBA Task Force.

We currently house two class A pumpers, two heavy rescue trucks, a rescue support pickup, collapse and confined space trailers and three boats, to include the only fanboat in the tri-state area.

September 11th

18 years later our actions as firefighters serve as a reminder that in the darkest days there is good in the world. As posted last week the Mahwah FD Exempt Association continues to put out the flags to honor the sacrifices made. Tomorrow we remember all those lost in the attack of September 11, 2001 at 7pm. Please join the community tomorrow by the Mahwah Train Station.

287 South Truck Fire

At around 3:30 this morning Mahwah Fire responded to Route 287 South for a truck fire. As firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and overhaul the affected contents we were joined by our colleagues at Mahwah EMS, firefighters from Allendale, Ramsey, and Hillburn who assisted at the scene and stood by at our firehouses during the call.

Walnut Street Fire

At around 4:15 this morning Mahwah Fire responded to Walnut Street for a house fire. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and overhaul the affected area.

Drill Night: Extrication

At tonight’s drill Company 1 Firefighters and Mahwah EMS had a joint extrication drill. This not only allowed us to practice our extrication skills and EMS to work on their skills but also allowed both groups to practice working together. Think you would like to join us?
