Residing at 100 Miller Rd., Mahwah, NJ, Co No. 1 has proudly served the residents of Mahwah NJ with professionalism, dedication and above all, a domineering volunteer spirit since 1914.

Today, Co No. 1, has 6 pieces of emergency apparatus and the members of Company No. 1 specialize in the area of technical rescue which includes calls such as building and trench collapse, elevator rescues,  motor vehicle accidents, and confined space emergencies. Co No. 1 allows provides water rescue capabilities in the form of our Swift Water and Dive Rescue teams. Co No. 1’s Dive Rescue team is a leading dive team in northern NJ and is a member of the NJ Regional SCUBA Task Force.

We currently house two class A pumpers, two heavy rescue trucks, a rescue support pickup, collapse and confined space trailers and three boats, to include the only fanboat in the tri-state area.

Throwback Thursday: Helicopter Firefighting

Remember when we had to call a helicopter to fight a fire? in April of 2017 Mahwah Firefighters were joined by our colleagues from Ramsey, Hillburn, and the NJ State Forest Fire Service while we battled a large fire at the Ramapo Reservation. Firefighters worked on the ground to contain the fire, eventually calling in the State Forest Fire Service who would bring specially trained Firefighters and equipment to fight this kind of fire. The video below shows some of this specialized equipment, in this case a helicopter.

Corporate Drive Fire Alarm

Earlier today fire companies 1 and 2 responded to Corporate Drive for a fire alarm. After investigating it was determined that the alarm was cooking related. Fire companies 1 and 2 vented the smoke from the area before returning to quarters.

February 2020 Calls For Service

This February Fire Company 1 responded to 34 calls for service 1 Boiler Issue 1 Brush Fire 2 Chimney Fires 3 EMS Assists 1 Electrical Issue 3 Elevator Rescues 13 Fire Alarms 5 Gas Leaks 1 Smoke Condition 3 Smells of Smoke 1 Working Fire As always, the 100% volunteer members of Mahwah Fire are ready to respond 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
