Residing at 100 Miller Rd., Mahwah, NJ, Co No. 1 has proudly served the residents of Mahwah NJ with professionalism, dedication and above all, a domineering volunteer spirit since 1914.

Today, Co No. 1, has 6 pieces of emergency apparatus and the members of Company No. 1 specialize in the area of technical rescue which includes calls such as building and trench collapse, elevator rescues,  motor vehicle accidents, and confined space emergencies. Co No. 1 allows provides water rescue capabilities in the form of our Swift Water and Dive Rescue teams. Co No. 1’s Dive Rescue team is a leading dive team in northern NJ and is a member of the NJ Regional SCUBA Task Force.

We currently house two class A pumpers, two heavy rescue trucks, a rescue support pickup, collapse and confined space trailers and three boats, to include the only fanboat in the tri-state area.

November 2020 Calls for Service

This November, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Company 1 firefighters responded to 27 calls for service. Carbon Monoxide Alarm – 4 Dispatched Structure Fire – 3 Down Utility Wires – 1 EMS Assist – 3 Fire Alarms – 11 Gas Leak – 1 Mutual Aid for a Fire – 1 Smoke Condition – 2 Vehicle Fire – 1 As always, the volunteer firefighters of Company 1 are ready to respond 24 hours a day 7 days a week

First Winter Storm of the Season

With the potentially serious snowstorm arriving Wednesday and expected to continue into Thursday, Mahwah Fire is reminding everyone to be safe and if possible, please stay off the roads during the storm.

Escorting Santa

Today firefighters from Company 1 escorted Santa around our section of town. Unfortunately due to the COVID pandemic we were not able to stop and take pictures with our friends but we were able to drive by and see our friends and supporters. Mahwah you rocked the holiday spirit the past two weeks and we are happy to be a part of it.

Santa Is Coming To Town Sunday

Mahwah Fire Co. 1 has scheduled our Annual Santa detail for this Sunday, December 13th starting at 9AM. Santa will be brought throughout our zone which includes Cragmere, Franklin Heights, Franklin Crossing, and the area of Franklin Turnpike between Suffern and Ramsey. Unfortunately this year there will not be any stopping to sit on Santa’s lap. It is also asked that when waiting on the streets for Santa that families do not congregate around people not in their household and please wear your masks.
