Today Company 1 responded to 3 calls for service, 2 of which were mutual aid. The first call came in at around 6:25 this morning. Company 1’s air boat, Marine 1 was requested to Ramsey to help vent a warehouse. Ramsey FD had extinguished a fire but needed help removing the residual smoke. Marine 1 responded and around 1 hour later returned to quarters after successfully venting the warehouse. The second call came in at around 6:25 that evening. Companies 1, 2, 3, and 4 responded to the KinderCare Learning Center for a fire alarm. At around 7:10 this morning Companies 1, 2, 3, and EMS North responded to the Mobile gas station on Route 17 South for a fire. After arriving on scene the responding units found the fuel pumps knocked over and a small fire. After extinguishing the fire all units returned to quarters. 

At around 7:30 tonight companies 1, 2, 3, and EMS North responded to Winter Terrace for a smoke condition in the garage. After arriving on scene Engine 117 (OIC C. Darby) searched the home for the cause of the smoke. After investigating it was determined that smoke was coming from a faulty garage door opener.

At around 1:30 this morning Companies 1, 2, 3, 4 and EMS South responded to a burning smell at Bergen County’s Communications Center. All units returned shortly after determining the cause was from a faulty server cooler.

This month Company 1 responded to a total of 23 calls. There were 9 fire alarms, 2 CO alarms, 1 brush fire, 2 grill/oven fires, 2 smells of gas/smoke, 1 extrication, 2 EMS assists, and dispatched to 4 structure fires.

At around 4PM Rescue 1 along with Companies 2, 4, EMS North and Tallman Rescue responded to the 287 flyover for an overturned tractor-trailer with a trapped person. Rescue 1 and Tallman Rescue stabilized the truck and then extricated the driver. 

Today members of Company 1’s dive team held a multi-agency drill at the Ramapo Reservation. Dive Teams from Mahwah, Lyndhurst, Oradell, Ringwood, and Wallington spent the morning diving and training together.

This morning Company 1 responded to 3 calls in 1 hour. The first call came in at around 11:30. Companies 1 and 2 responded to a fire alarm at the Homewood Suites. After arriving Engine 117 was told that the alarm was set off by burnt cookies. After investigating Engine 117 returned to quarters. Then at around 12:20 Company 1 responded to a brush fire on the train tracks near Wanamaker Avenue. After arriving on scene Engine 117 (OIC J. Darby) proceeded to extinguish the fire and overhaul the area. Engine 117 returned to quarters after approximately 1 hour. While responding to the brush fire Rescue 1 (OIC Polster) responded to the Ramapo Reservation for an injured person.  After arriving on scene Rescue 1 assisted removing the injured person from the area and to a waiting ambulance. Shortly after Rescue 1 returned quarters     

Tonight companies 1, 2, 3, and 4 took part in a department wide drill held at company 2. Members practiced various skills such as VES (Vent Enter Search), rescuing an injured firefighter and using a roof ladder. At around 7:30PM the department responded to a possible electrical fire (OIC BATT 1) at a residence on Doremus Road. The homeowner said that they smelled something electrical burning but they were not able to determine the cause. After arriving companies 1 and 2 searched the residence and determined the cause. Shortly after all units returned to training. Then at around 8:30PM the department responded to a grill fire (OIC BATT 1) at a residence on Pembroke Court. After arriving Company 1 ensured that the fire was out and Company 2 set up a fan to remove the smoke. Shortly after all units returned their quarters

Tonight Company 1 members practiced hose handling techniques
