James is a third generation firefighter with almost 20 years of service, and is a current fire Lieutenant for Mahwah Fire Rescue Co #1 as well as a lead SCUBA diver and supervisor for the Co #1 dive team.

This December the volunteer firefighters of Company 1 responded to 32 calls for service 1 Runaway Boiler 1 Carbon Monoxide Alarms 5 Dispatched Structure Fires 1 Dryer Fire 1 Extrication 15 Fire Alarms 5 Gas Leaks 1 Smell of Smoke 1 Working Fire As always, the volunteer firefighters of Company 1 are ready to respond 24 hours a day 7 days week.

2019 Calls For Service

As 2020 begins volunteer firefighters of Company 1 invite you to see all the calls for service that we responded to during 2019. This year the total was 426, which was an increase of nearly 20% from the previous year. Franklin Turnpike Fire

Yesterday just before 5am Mahwah Fire and many additional firefighters from the surrounding area responded to Franklin Turnpike for a large fire inside of a commercial building. The first arriving firefighters found the fire had extended through the second floor and roof. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and ensured that it had not spread to the neighboring businesses.

Christmas Tree Fire Safety

As Christmas comes closer Mahwah Fire is reminding everyone to keep your tree watered. Each year over 200 homes experience a fire that started with their Christmas tree. As this video from NIST and the NFPA shows a fire in a dry tree can spread to the entire room in as little as 1 minute. Mahwah Fire is reminding everyone to keep heat sources such as fireplaces, radiators, candles, heat vents, and lights at least 3 feet away from your tree.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Co. 1 will be escorting Santa through Cragmere, Franklin Crossing, Franklin Heights and areas off of Franklin Tpk on Sunday December 15th (weather date December 22).
