Friday morning, Rescue Company 1, Fire Companies 2, 4, along with Mahwah EMS, and Police, responded to Route 202 for a Motor vehicle accident with reported entrapment.
Upon arrival of first due units, firefighters discovered a vehicle had left the roadway and traveled down an embankment, rolling over before coming to rest on its wheels. While the driver was not trapped inside the vehicle, they required assistance navigating the steep terrain back up to the roadway.
Due to the patient’s condition and challenging terrain, Company 1 firefighters used a stokes basket to properly package and safely transport the patient up the embankment to an awaiting ambulance. They were then transported by Mahwah EMS to an area hospital for treatment.
All units operated on scene for approximately 30 minutes before returning to quarters.
