Car Fire

Yesterday evening, Fire Companies 1 and 3, along with Mahwah EMS and Police, responded to a vehicle fire.

Upon arrival of first the due units, firefighters discovered a vehicle that had struck a guardrail and was fully involved in fire. All occupants had self-extricated prior to the FD’s arrival.

Rescue Engine 117’s crew arrived on scene and immediately stretched a handline to begin fire suppression operations while simultaneously establishing a water supply from a nearby hydrant. Engine 320, Engine 115, and Air 3 arrived shortly after to provide additional manpower and tools.

After 117’s crew extinguished the fire, Engine 115 and 320’s firefighters conducted thorough overhaul operations to ensure complete extinguishment. The driver was evaluated and treated on scene by Mahwah EMS.

All units operated for approximately 45 minutes before returning to quarters.
