This month Company 1 responded to a total of 27 calls for service. There were 7 fire/CO alarms, 4 smells of smoke, 1 smell of gas, 2 smoke conditions, 1 vehicle extrication, 1 vehicle fire, 1 brush fire, 1 downed electrical line, 2 elevator rescues, 1 rescue of an injured hiker, and we were dispatched to 6 structure fires.

This morning Rescue 1’s dive team hosted Parsippany Rescue and Recovery dive team at the Ramapo Reservation. Both teams spent a few hours diving and training together. We are looking forward to working with them again in the future.

At around 9:20 this morning Rescue 1 and Fire Company 3 responded to Airmont Avenue for an MVA with entrapment. After arriving on scene, Rescue 1’s crew found that one car was involved and had 2 trapped occupants. After quickly extricating the driver Rescue 1 worked to extricate the passenger. After the extrication both patients were transported to an area hospital and the police began their investigation. Shortly after Rescue 1 and Company 3 returned to quarters.

At around 4am this morning Fire Companies 1, 2, 3, and 4 responded to a smoke condition at the Hampton Inn. After a brief search of the hotel, the cause of the smoke was found to be from burnt food. Not long after all units returned to quarters.
Last night at around 8:15 Fire Companies 1, 2, 3, and 4 responded to a smoke condition on Konight Court. After arriving on scene the responding units found a light smoke condition coming from the kitchen. After investigating, the cause was found to be a towel accidently left on the stove. Shortly after all units returned to quarters. Not long after returning from Konight Court Fire Companies 1, 2, 3, and 4 responded to an oven fire on Vista View Drive. After arriving on scene Engine 115 found a small grease fire and proceeded to extinguish it. After checking the surrounding area and ensuring that there was no extension, all units returned to quarters after about an hour.
