Mahwah Fire Rescue Co #1

Shortly before 5pm yesterday evening, Fire Companies 1, 2, 3, and 4 responded to a residence for a reported appliance fire in the kitchen. Upon arrival, crews found that a dishwasher had caught fire but was extinguished prior to FD arrival. While the fire was contained to the appliance, firefighters removed the damaged washer from the residence and checked for extension while additional crews set up ventilation to clear the smoke condition from the home. All units operated on scene for approximately 45 minutes before returning to quarters.

Busy Super Bowl Sunday for the Volunteers of Company 1 At approximately 4:15pm, Companies 1, 2, and 3 were dispatched as mutual aid to Ramsey for a working house fire. Upon arrival, Ramsey FD was making an aggressive interior attack and had heavy fire on the 1st floor with extension to the 2nd floor and attic. Engine 115’s crew was immediately sent into the building to assist with hose lines and also to open up the ceilings and walls to expose and extinguish the fire. As Engine 115’s crew worked interior operations, Company 2 stood by as the FAST team, and Company 3’s Air Unit provided SCBA support. Engine 115 operated for about 2 hours before returning to quarters. Job well done goes out to Ramsey FD who were faced with tough conditions upon arrival. Wednesday evening at approximately 9pm, Mahwah Fire Department responded to Stephens Lane for a reported structure fire with smoke and fire showing from the attic. Rescue Engine 117 was first arriving, immediately stretching a handline to the second floor. Rescue 1 arrived next and performed a primary search. Crews removed portions of the ceiling and discovered active fire conditions in the attic which were quickly knocked down by 117’s handline. Co1 and Co3 Firefighters entered the attic and found the fire originating from the furnace and had spread to surrounding areas. Firefighters continued to extinguish flames and started to overhaul the fire area. In addition to the firefighters working inside of the home, additional firefighters from Engine 115 worked to set up a water supply for Engine 117. Tower 2 and Ladder 4 arrived simultaneously and began to set up for roof operations, if needed. Ramsey Tower 442 was staged
