Residing at 100 Miller Rd., Mahwah, NJ, Co No. 1 has proudly served the residents of Mahwah NJ with professionalism, dedication and above all, a domineering volunteer spirit since 1914.

Today, Co No. 1, has 6 pieces of emergency apparatus and the members of Company No. 1 specialize in the area of technical rescue which includes calls such as building and trench collapse, elevator rescues,  motor vehicle accidents, and confined space emergencies. Co No. 1 allows provides water rescue capabilities in the form of our Swift Water and Dive Rescue teams. Co No. 1’s Dive Rescue team is a leading dive team in northern NJ and is a member of the NJ Regional SCUBA Task Force.

We currently house two class A pumpers, two heavy rescue trucks, a rescue support pickup, collapse and confined space trailers and three boats, to include the only fanboat in the tri-state area.

December 2018 Calls For Service

This December Company 1 responded to 43 calls for service . 1 run-away boiler 1 chimney fire 1 carbon monoxide alarm 2 dispatched structure fires 1 EMS assist 2 vehicle extrications 23 fire alarms 7 gas leaks 1 mutual aid request for fire 1 smoke condition 3 vehicle fires As always, the volunteer members of Company 1 are ready to respond 24 hours a day 7 days week.

Drill Night: Ladders And Tools

Last night at our weekly drill Company 1 firefighters practiced setting up and using ladders, along with raising and lowering tools to the roof of a building, in this case the Township’s DPW. Heavy Rescue History

The Mahwah FD Heavy Rescue is considered one of the best. They are well trained and certified to cover almost every kind of rescue. From simple elevator rescues, vehicle accidents, structure collapse, confined space, water rescues. and many others. This is not an accident. They have been training longer than most. 2019 Company Officers

This morning the township held its annual swearing-in ceremony for all of the fire department officers.
