Fardale House Fire

Friday evening, Fire Companies 1, 2, and 4 were dispatched for a reported smoke condition inside a residence in the Fardale section of town.

Upon arrival of Mahwah Police, the incident was upgraded to a working structure fire, bringing Fire Company 3, Mahwah EMS, along with mutual aid companies from Ramsey and Wyckoff.

Rescue Engine 117 arrived first on scene and immediately stretched a handline into the structure where they discovered an active fire within the first-floor wall. 117’s crew worked to quickly extinguish the fire while Rescue 1 and Tanker 425’s crews performed searches. Once the initial tasks were completed, overhaul operations were conducted in the fire area and basement directly below the fire ensuring everything was opened up and washed down. Ladder 4 was positioned in the driveway and set up for aerial operations and deployed fans to ventilate the smoke.

Engine 115, RS-1, Tower 2, and Engine 320 were also on scene to provide extra manpower if needed. Mahwah EMS established a rehabilitation station for operating firefighters.

All units operated on scene for approximately 2 hours before returning to quarters.

Job well done by all Mahwah Fire companies and our mutual aid partners who operated at this incident.
