It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Raymond James “Jamie” Dator, a longtime and cherished member of Mahwah Fire Company No. 1.
Jamie exemplified what it means to serve others.
Throughout his years with Company 1, he was a dedicated firefighter, a steady presence, and a friend to many. His commitment to the fire service and to the Mahwah community left a lasting impression that will not be forgotten.
In his later years, Jamie continued his lifelong dedication to helping others through acts of compassion and service. He was instrumental in helping to found and support the Bergen County Horse Rescue, reflecting his deep love for animals and his belief in giving back wherever there was a need. He also quietly inspired many through his faith, personal journey, and unwavering willingness to help those around him. Jamie’s life was a testament to the power of service, humility, and caring for others without seeking recognition.
We extend our deepest condolences to Jamie’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service — to his family, his fire company, and his community – will live on.
