Residing at 100 Miller Rd., Mahwah, NJ, Co No. 1 has proudly served the residents of Mahwah NJ with professionalism, dedication and above all, a domineering volunteer spirit since 1914.

Today, Co No. 1, has 6 pieces of emergency apparatus and the members of Company No. 1 specialize in the area of technical rescue which includes calls such as building and trench collapse, elevator rescues,  motor vehicle accidents, and confined space emergencies. Co No. 1 allows provides water rescue capabilities in the form of our Swift Water and Dive Rescue teams. Co No. 1’s Dive Rescue team is a leading dive team in northern NJ and is a member of the NJ Regional SCUBA Task Force.

We currently house two class A pumpers, two heavy rescue trucks, a rescue support pickup, collapse and confined space trailers and three boats, to include the only fanboat in the tri-state area.

Vehicle Fire

At around 1:45 this afternoon fire companies 1 and 2 responded to Wanamaker Ave for a vehicle fire. The fire arriving units found that a small truck was on fire and that the occupant was out of the vehicle. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and overhauled the area before returning to quarters. 

John Ruit, Jr.

It is with our deepest regret that we announce the passing of John Ruit, Jr. Grandfather of Steven Ruit. The Ruit family will receive friends on Friday, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM with a Fire dept. service at 7:30 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff.   Funeral services will be held Saturday 10:00 AM at the Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, 530 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff.   Interment will follow in the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to the Faith Community Christian Reformed Church or Sicomac Community Engine Company #3, P.O. Box 224, Wyckoff, NJ 07481
