Fire Prevention Month

It is Fire Prevention Month and the MFD will be out fulfilling their mission of teaching Fire Safety! We are doing multiple events to reach as many children in town as possible. It is also up to the parents and caregivers at home to reinforce the message of fire safety! Here are some of the events and dates for this month. Please share! 9/11 Memorial

Each year members from the community place a flag for each firefighter and police officer lost on 9/11 at a memorial located across from Winters Pond. Tomorrow night the town will be holding a memorial service.

July 2018 Calls for service

This July Company 1 responded to 30 calls for service. This month there was 15 fire alarms, 1 car fire, 1 CO alarm, 1 elevator rescue, 3 motor vehicle entrapments, 2 fire department assists, 1 gas leak, 2 EMS assists, 4 dispatched structure fires,  As always, the volunteer members of Company 1 are ready to respond 24 hours a day 7 days week.

Services For Firefighter Giovanni “Gio” Pertuz

Visitation will be Monday, July 30th from 1-4pm and 6-9pm at Thomas Gentile funeral home, located at 397 Union Street, Hackensack. The fire department service will be held at 730PM Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, July 31st at 10:30am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church located at 47 Island Road, Mahwah. The mass will be followed by a burial at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah. Any Fire Department members attending any of the services are asked to be in full Class A uniforms.

June 2018 Call for service

This June Company 1 responded to 37 calls for service. This month there was 1 brush fire, 1 burning smell, 4 dispatched structure fire, 1 set of down utility wires, 6 EMS assists, 1 elevator rescue, 16 fire alarms, 3 gas leaks, 1 mutual aid request for a fire, 1 oven fire, 1 smoke condition, and 1 vehicle fire. As always, the volunteer members of Company 1 are ready to respond 24 hours a day 7 days week.
