Residing at 100 Miller Rd., Mahwah, NJ, Co No. 1 has proudly served the residents of Mahwah NJ with professionalism, dedication and above all, a domineering volunteer spirit since 1914.

Today, Co No. 1, has 6 pieces of emergency apparatus and the members of Company No. 1 specialize in the area of technical rescue which includes calls such as building and trench collapse, elevator rescues,  motor vehicle accidents, and confined space emergencies. Co No. 1 allows provides water rescue capabilities in the form of our Swift Water and Dive Rescue teams. Co No. 1’s Dive Rescue team is a leading dive team in northern NJ and is a member of the NJ Regional SCUBA Task Force.

We currently house two class A pumpers, two heavy rescue trucks, a rescue support pickup, collapse and confined space trailers and three boats, to include the only fanboat in the tri-state area.

January 2019 Calls For Service

This January the volunteer firefighters of Company 1 Responded To 42 Calls For Service 1 Boiler Issue 1 Brush Fire 3 Burning Smell 1 Carbon Monoxide Alarm 1 Dispatched Structure Fire 4 EMS Assists 1 Elevator Rescue 21 Fire Alarms 3 Gas Leaks 4 Smoke Conditions 1 Working Fire 1 Vehicle Fire As always, the volunteer members of Company 1 are ready to respond 24 hours a day 7 days week.

Route 17 Truck Fire

Tonight Firefighters from Companies 1, 2, 3 and also EMS responded to Route 17 South for truck fire. After arriving, firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and overhaul the affected contents.

SCUBA Task Force Drill

Drill Night: SCBA Familiarization

Last night at our weekly drill, Company 1 Firefighters practiced untangling and then putting on their SCBA’s while blindfolded. This helps to teach familiarization with all parts of the SCBA and it is also good practice if Firefighters need to perform this during a fire or somewhere with low visibility.
